Jacksonville Piano Instructor – Gina Martinelli

Gina Martinelli was born into a musical Italian New York family on July 15, 1947. She was raised in a suburban Long Island community. Music was always her first love. The Steinway parlor grand she received at age ten embodies those family memories, and holds a place of honor in her home. Gina, a born multi-media artist, has recreated a renaissance atmosphere that fills her plot of land in Old Avondale. Her 1924 sandstone and coquina block cottage on the corner of Pine Grove Avenue and Herschel is is a traffic stopper. It is landscaped with clouds of flowers, artworks and sculpture.
Brief History:
She attended Catholic University in Washington D.C. from 1965 until 1967 as a Speech and Drama student. She finished her first Bachelor’s degree in Music Education at Adelphi University, on Long Island in January of 1970. She raised three children with her husband in Jacksonville FL. During that time, she played the piano and sang in the North Florida area and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts in Sculpture at the University of North Florida. She was an Artist in Residence for the Florida State Department of Cultural affairs for the full three year tenure. She won this prestigious position with her Dragon Workshop and conducted week long workshops in schools in the North Florida area with a combined musical and clay building experience.
In the 1990′s she began masters studies in Advanced Curriculum Studies while teaching in the Duval County School System as a fully certificated Art and Music teacher. Then in 1999 Gina opened her Art and Music Studio when her marriage of thirty years ended. She offers private instruction in piano, guitar, voiceand art studio sessions in drawing, painting and sculpture. She believes that education in the arts is the catalyst for more compassionate human beings, who possess greater capacity for achievement in all subject areas through right brained creative thinking.
