Gina Martinelli was born into a musical Italian New York family on July 15, 1947. She was raised in a suburban Long Island community. Music was always her first love. The Steinway parlor grand she received at age ten embodies those family memories, and holds a place of honor in her home. Gina, a born multi-media artist, has recreated a renaissance atmosphere that fills her plot of land in Old Avondale. Her 1924 sandstone and coquina block cottage on the corner of Pine Grove Avenue and Herschel is is a traffic stopper. It is landscaped with clouds of flowers, artworks and sculpture.
She attended Catholic University in Washington D.C. from 1965 until 1967 as a Speech and Drama student. She finished her first Bachelor’s degree in Music Education at Adelphi University, on Long Island in January of 1970. She raised three children with her husband in Jacksonville FL. During that time, she played the piano and sang in the North Florida area and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts in Sculpture at the University of North Florida.
